Mahatma Gandhi Punch Parmeshwar Awards Why ?

THESE 200 VILLAGES HAVE NO ACCESSIBILITY

ABUJHMAD

Lying amidst dense forests underlying mountains and steep valleys this part of the globe

almost 5000 sq km in area is distant population with no accessibility it is a nomadic village

people get up walk n move from one place to another but till date there are no roads to connect these peoples

.
even after thousands of years of human civilization these people are confined in the limits of these 5000 km area

and live the life of the primitive man.

these denizers of darkness feed on scavanging on natural resources

where today also wild vegetation counts in millions and kilograms

of vegetables is bartered for salt n where there is no single scrape of cloth on body.

man has landed on moon but here the rays of sun n moon are also scarce.

CUTOFF FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD FOR 6 MONTHS A YEAR

MAZARKOOD
The land of max water availibility asia this village in janjgir champa of india is unapproachable

for more than 6 months in a year banked on all sides by mahanadi

and borai river to reach to this place is definitely gruelling if not impossible

TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL IN BED

RAINKHOL

Chhatisgarh govt is making the state a power hub and paradoxically on the other hand this village is as outbach as the primitive earth

nor are ther proper road neither any other service for transport

the inhabitants of this place have to walk for 6 km to get the basic daily groceries

n god forbids if some one is ill 4 people carry him on there shoulder

these is just another example of indian villages that are miles and years apart from development

A RAY OF HOPE HERE

Its not that all villages in india are lying back there are village which are taking a fast pace

towards development

HIBDA BAZAR
25 years ago a small town of maharashtra faced the drought of 1972

drought left the place all dry n broke

the terrain was rocky n only 10 % was cultivatable leaving people no hpe n leading to immegrated

one amoungst the inhabitants was popat rao

a boy with a passion for cricket

In 1989 he accepted the post of sarpanch

closed down 20 liquour shops in d area permanently

initiated rain water harvesting program n moreover

ended up providing 50 new ponds and 200 wells in the area made the land suitable for cultivation

as a result the monthly income of families grew to rs 30000 from a mere 30 in the past

there are only 3 families that are below poverty line n the 32 families that fled the village are now back

n the village is on the right track of development

REASON FOR THE AWARD

When POPAT LAL brought a huge revolution by his sole will he showed to the world that anything can be changed by will and determination.

OUR GOAL

This year we want to give royalties to 15 people in various parts of the country taking inspiration from whom other thousands come forward for bringing a change in their lives and their land
